The Invisible Foundation: Why Your Security System is Only as Good as its Wiring

When you think about a new security system or upgrading your business network, it’s easy to focus on the exciting gear: the high-definition 4K cameras, the sleek access control panels, or the fastest new Wi-Fi access points.
But there is a crucial component hidden behind your walls, above your ceiling tiles, and under your floors that dictates how well all that expensive equipment actually works: the cabling infrastructure.
In an increasingly wireless world, we forget that the backbone of reliable speed and security is still a physical hardwire connection. If that "invisible foundation" is flawed, your entire system will be flawed.
At PrimeTek Security, we have a simple philosophy: Do it right the first time.
Here is why choosing the right provider for your hardwired infrastructure is the most important decision you’ll make for your network, and why cutting corners on cabling is a recipe for disaster.
The Hidden Danger in the Market: CCA Cabling
Unfortunately, the cabling market is flooded with inferior products designed to save the installer money at the expense of the customer’s long-term reliability.
The biggest culprit is Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) cabling.
Many cut-rate installers use CCA because it is significantly cheaper to buy than pure copper. To the untrained eye, it looks exactly the same. But inside the jacket, it’s a different story. CCA is just an aluminum wire with a very thin coating of copper on the outside.
Why is CCA a problem for your network?
Poor Signal Quality: Aluminum is not as efficient a conductor as copper. Over long distances, this leads to signal dropouts, lagging camera feeds, and slow network speeds.
Brittleness: Aluminum breaks easily. If the cable is bent too sharply during installation, the internal wire can snap, causing intermittent connection issues that are nightmares to diagnose later.
Corrosion and Failure: Aluminum oxidizes faster than copper, especially at termination points (where the wire connects to the jack). This leads to eventual system failure in a few years.
The PoE Hazard (Power over Ethernet): Modern security cameras often draw power right through the network cable (PoE). Aluminum has higher resistance, which generates heat. Running high-power devices over CCA cabling is a known fire hazard and violates many building codes.
The PrimeTek Security Promise: 100% Solid Copper. Every Time.
We know that tearing open walls to fix bad wiring two years after installation is expensive, disruptive, and frustrating.
That is why PrimeTek Security refuses to compromise on infrastructure. When you choose us as your provider, you are investing in longevity.
We guarantee the use of high-quality, 100% solid copper cabling for all our network and security installations.
We don't use CCA. Ever.
By investing in the right materials and expert installation practices upfront, we ensure:
Maximum Performance: Your 4K cameras will stream crisp video without stuttering, and your data network will run at its rated speeds.
Future-Proofing: High-quality copper infrastructure lasts for decades. As technology advances and requires more bandwidth, your cabling backbone will be ready to handle it.
Safety and Compliance: Our solid copper installations meet stringent safety codes, ensuring safe Power over Ethernet (PoE) delivery to your devices without risk of overheating.
Build Your Foundation on Quality
Your security and network systems are essential investments for your home or business. Don't let a cheap cable be the weak link that brings it all down.
Choose the provider that understands that what’s behind the wall is just as important as what’s on it.
