Security system questions, answered
Straight answers about security cameras, alarms, access control, networking and Starlink installation: what things cost, how long they take, and what you actually need. If your question isn't here, call or text 1-610-610-1234 and ask.
We're a full low-voltage and security integrator. That covers security camera systems (CCTV and IP), burglar alarms, access control and door entry, video intercoms, structured network cabling, professional and cloud-managed Wi-Fi, Starlink installation, smart home automation, and audio/video and public address systems.
Many customers come to us for one of these and end up combining two or three, since it's the same technician and the same cable pathways.
We serve Northeastern Pennsylvania, including Kingston, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Pittston, Dallas, Nanticoke, Hazleton, Forty Fort, Plymouth, Edwardsville, Swoyersville and Shavertown, plus surrounding communities in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties.
All of our work is on-site at your property: design, installation and service happen where the system lives, and there's no walk-in location. Starlink installations go out to roughly 70 miles from Kingston. If you're outside that range, call and ask; we travel for larger projects.
Yes. We come to the property, look at what you're trying to protect, talk through your options, and give you a written quote. There's no charge and no obligation to move forward.
A typical residential camera system starts at $2,500 installed, which covers the cameras, the recorder, all cabling and labor, and setup of remote viewing on your phone. Commercial systems are quoted on the property, since camera count, cable distances and storage requirements vary widely.
Price depends mostly on camera count, resolution, how much recorded footage you want to keep, and how difficult the cable runs are. Your written quote breaks all of it out, and there are no surprises added afterward.
Fewer than most people expect, if they're placed correctly. A typical home is well covered by four to six cameras focused on entry points, driveways and blind corners.
Coverage quality depends far more on placement, lens choice and lighting than on camera count. Two well-positioned cameras beat six badly aimed ones, which is exactly what the free on-site evaluation is for.
Most residential camera systems are finished in a day or two. Larger commercial jobs, buildings needing long cable runs, and multi-system installations take longer depending on the number of devices and the pathways available.
You get a firm timeline with your written quote, before any work starts.
Yes. Every system we install includes remote viewing on your phone or tablet (live video and recorded playback) from anywhere with an internet connection. We configure it during installation and walk you through using it before we leave the job.
Both options are available, and it's your choice.
Self-monitored: alerts go straight to your phone with no monthly fee. You decide what to do with them.
Professionally monitored: a central station watches your system around the clock and dispatches emergency services when an alarm triggers, for a monthly fee.
Self-monitoring suits most homes. Monitored service makes more sense for commercial properties, anywhere unoccupied for long stretches, and anyone wanting insurance credit for a monitored system. We'll walk you through the trade-off during the evaluation.
Yes. We repair, upgrade and take over existing systems, including equipment installed by someone else. Common requests are adding cameras to a working system, replacing failed units, upgrading an old analog setup to IP, and getting remote viewing running after an installer disappeared.
We also offer hourly on-site troubleshooting for existing security, network and low-voltage systems if you'd rather start with a diagnosis than a full quote.
No. Clean installation is the part of this trade that separates professionals from the rest. We route cable through attics, walls and existing pathways wherever possible, use proper terminations, weatherproof every outdoor penetration, and leave the property the way we found it.
No loose wires, no open holes, no cable stapled across siding. Ask to see photos of finished work; we're glad to show them.
Both. Alongside single-family homes we install for offices, warehouses, retail stores, apartment and multi-tenant buildings, houses of worship, and industrial sites.
Commercial work usually brings access control, structured cabling and larger camera counts into the picture, and we design the whole thing as one system rather than bolting pieces together.
Wired, in almost every case where running cable is practical. A wired camera has constant power, doesn't drop off your Wi-Fi, doesn't need batteries changed, and delivers consistent video quality. Wireless cameras are convenient to install and that's mostly where the advantage ends.
Wireless makes sense for outbuildings, rental properties where you can't run cable, and spots where the pathway genuinely doesn't exist. We install both and will tell you honestly which fits your property.
Typically two to four weeks for a standard residential system, after which the recorder writes over the oldest footage automatically. The exact window depends on camera count, resolution and recorder storage capacity.
If you need a longer retention period (some commercial and insurance requirements call for 30, 60 or 90 days), tell us during the evaluation and we'll size the storage for it. We also install cloud video storage where you want footage held off-site, so it survives if the recorder is stolen or damaged.
Yes, and it's a significant part of what we do across rural NEPA. Professional installation covers obstruction analysis to find the clearest sky view, secure roof, wall or pole mounting built to handle Pennsylvania weather, weatherproofed cable routing through attics or conduit rather than a cable hanging through a window, grounding and safety compliance, and integration into your existing network or a mesh Wi-Fi system.
DIY setups usually leave speed on the table through poor placement. We make sure the connection performs the way it's supposed to. Service radius is roughly 70 miles from Kingston.
